Working to improve awareness about neurodiversity & increase access to mental health supports in Restigouche Region
Tucked away in Northern New Brunswick, Restigouche Region is home to thousands of individuals and families looking to make the most of quiet rural life but with limited access to supports for neurodiverse and mental health needs. Dr. Parkington is dedicated to bridging this gap by collaborating with healthcare professionals, public officials, and community members to promote awareness and building support programs for neurodiverse youth & adults.

This will be done by producing accessible and easy-to understand information resources and forums to educate community members about various neurodiverse conditions (e.g., ASD, ADHD, Down syndrome) and mental health issues (e.g., depression, anxiety, insomnia).
Peer support and engagement with other like-minded individuals is important to the well-being of neurodiverse individuals. Dr. Parkington aims to build and develop peer support groups and game nights (online and in-person) to promote social engagement and participation in neurodiverse youth & adults.
